Monty Hall Problem [Friday, July 16, 2010]

This is definitely one of my favorite math problems.  It is a great way to show people that dislike math, that simply going with your instincts doesn't always cut it in the real world.  Though I can't explain it with the excellent 3D illustrations as the great (but fictitious) Charlie Epps did, I have created a web page which explains the problem and the solution.  It can be found at http://gotochriswest.com/education/math/MontyHall/.

Dragon Ball To Come To Nickelodeon [Sunday, March 28, 2010]

When I was younger, one of my favorite cartoons was Dragon Ball Z.  Well, after the horrible live action Dragon Ball movie, I hadn't heard too much about the old series.  Still, for anyone who is a new fan or for those old fans who may tune in every once in a while because nothing comes on during the summer, you will be happy know that Dragon Ball Z Kai and Dragon Ball Revised will be coming to Nicktoons in May.  Find out more here.

Home Page Updated [Tuesday, March 9, 2010]

Finally, my home page has been updated so that the style of the other pages is the same as the style on the Home Page.  In addition, the main page is now more user friendly.  As you must have noticed, the home page no longer has news items, this new page does.

Site Under Construction [Thursday, March 4, 2010]

I realize that my site was under construction for an extended period of time.  Yet, it may seem that nothing has changed.  As far as the home page is concerned, this is true.  On the other hand, I have been working on a new template for my site that looks simple, but uses JXtension to provide cool looking effects to all of my pages.  My original goal was to do this for my entire site before bringing the home page back online.  Unfortunately, though, this proved to large of a task when coupled with everything else I am doing.  Therefore, I will not be updating my home page for at least a few more days.

JXtension 1.1 Is Here!!! [Tuesday, January 12, 2010]

It has finally been released after numerous tests and updates.  This new version now gives the web developer more control, allowing this person to present information to the user in the friendliest way possible.  I will admit, I do have some more work to do on JXtension, but for its size, this feature packed JavaScript library sure does pack a punch!

I think that it is also important to note that the JXtension home page has been improved substantially.  Instead of me talking about it, why don't you check it out yourself by going to http://jxtension.gotochriswest.com/.

JXtension 1.1 Update [Tuesday, January 5, 2010]

JXtension 1.1 is almost ready.  I have written all of the code that I wanted to for the next version but it wont be the last one.  I plan on releasing it by Tuesday, January 12, 2010.  Trust me, if you felt some changes needed to be made, there are some BIG ones in store.  Fortunately for all of you jQuery advocates, JXtension is moving closer to that direction.  One exception to that statement is the fact that it will not be nearly as big as jQuery is, even in the full version.

JXtension Home Page [Monday, November 23, 2009]

I have finally created a home page for JXtension.  As of right now it is not the best page but it is a start.  I plan on keeping this page up-to-date as I continue to create the JXDocs.  Click here to check it out.

JXtension Is Ready [Wednesday, November 4, 2009]

I have officially ended development for version 1.0 of JXtension.  This version can now be found at http://jxtension.gotochriswest.com/JXtension-1.0(Full).js.  Just as was done with jQuery, I plan on minifying the code so that it will take a minimal amount of time to load.  The good thing about any JavaScript library is the fact that once the library has been retrieved by the browser for one page, the entire file doesn't need to be retrieved again unless the cache settings are modified.  Anyway, I will keep you posted on the development of the online JXDocs (JXtension Documentation).  Here are the ones that are currently available:

At Month's End [Thursday, October 29, 2009]

Finally, the end of this month has arrived as far as school work is concerned.  Unfortunately, as all students are aware, the work still continues into the weekend.  In my case though, I have a considerably lighter load since I have finished writing the code for JXtension version 1.0.

Other than the fact that I wanted to see if I could create a JavaScript library of my own which provided much of the functions available in JQuery, I also created this for a Servlets project that was due yesterday.  this project entailed creating a transcript viewer which allows the user to enter their ID number (fake SSN in this case) and then see a web page which displays information about the student and their grades.  Their grades will be viewable in three different view:  by grade, by weight and by year.  Our project needed to use Java (for the servlets), HTML, CSS and JavaScript in order to provide a dynamic web page.  To see what I came up with (which is a great example of how to use JXtension), click here.  Just so you know, one valid ID number is 123-45-6789.

JXtension - The Little Brother To JQuery [Friday, October 16, 2009]

I am currently developing a JavaScript library called JXtension which will be able to mimic functions available in JQuery.  My goal with JXtension is to simplify the webmaster's job, while limiting the size of the resource.  I plan on releasing version 1.0 to the public on October 27, 2009.

Barcode - Mimicking Google [Wednesday, October 7, 2009]

I decided that it is time to copy off of Google and create some custom logos, depending on the date.  Therefore, what better time to start this tradition off than by creating a logo which is very simple.  Better yet, I didn't have to do much of anything since there is a site called Barcodes, Inc. which will create the barcode for you.  This is where I got my barcode from, and I encourage you to do the same.

InterfaceLIFT.com [Friday, May 22, 2009]

There are many great websites which provide a way to download excellent desktop wallpapers for free but InterfaceLIFT.com has recently become my favorite.  Check it out for yourself and see some great images which may be easily downloaded (virus free).

Scripting Languages [Friday, May 15, 2009]

Often times people want to learn more about scripting or even see some examples, therefore I have added a little of both.  As of right now, I have examples of HTAs, JScript, JavaScripts, and PHP scripts in the Scripting Languages section which is listed in the Main Menu to the left.
